Can you find out the sex at 16 weeks?

My doctors scheduled me an ultrasound next week and ill be 16 weeks...they said that ill be able to find out the sex but ive been reading that u can find out between 18 and 20 weeks? im really curious to know the sex so i can start buying stuff for the baby and im just wonderin how many of yall found out the sex this early?

usually the earliest they can find out is 18 weeks and even then it could not be for sure which is why they always wait for the 20 week mark. it's not unheard of to find out that early but it's also not as reliable. best to just wait the few more weeks and be more certain.
